Paris Hilton was born on February 17, 1981
in New York. Her parents are Rick and Kathy Hilton, and she has
a younger sister, Nicky (born in 1983), with whom she is often mentioned.
Growing up in Manhattan's ritzy Waldorf-Astoria, the family's New
York home, as well as other Hilton digs in Beverly Hills and the
Hamptons, Paris and her sister share the throne as heiresses of
the Hilton empire. Their great-grandfather is Conrad Hilton, the
founder of the Hilton hotel chain. Their family's worth is estimated
at $300 million.
Her grandfather, Conrad ''Nicky'' Hilton, Jr.,
also brought some notoriety to the family, as he was the first of
Elizabeth Taylor's many ex-husbands.
After secondary education, Paris decided not to
go to college. Instead, she went to work as a fashion model for
Catherine Malandrino and Marc Bouwer and worked on an ad campaign
for an Italian label called "Iceberg".
Between 2000-2002, Paris had a cameo appearance
in "Zoolander," and a role as a strung-out supermodel
in the film short "QIK2JDG." Pictures of her graced the
pages of several magazines, including GQ, Vanity Fair, and FHM.
She was also profiled, along with her sister, in People magazine.
At the same time, Paris became the center of attention because of
her relationships. In early 2000, Leonardo DiCaprio and Paris Hilton
were spotted together, and some papers called them a couple, but
the odds are he was only friends with Paris and hung out with her
a few times. She then apparently dated Terminator 2's Edward Furlong
for a few months, and was later seen out and about with boxer Oscar
de la Hoya. In 2001 Paris was engaged to actor and Tommy Hilfiger
model, Jason Shaw, who was also her co-star in "The Hillz."
Her Popularity skyrocketed after a homemade sex
video between her and ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon was scattered all
over the internet in October of 2003. The video was made when Paris
was 19 years old.
Paris, along with her younger sister Nicky, also
became notorious as socialites, gracing party after party and getting
bad press for their antics. For example, Paris has danced on top
of bar banquettes, gone topless for attention, and paraded around
in designer T-shirts with slogans like, ''Got Blow?'' Yet Paris
maintains that the bad press ''sucks'' and that ''people are mean.''
Paris Hilton appeared in the 2003 reality series
"The Simple Life". The series featuring her and her friend
Nicole Richie living with a family on a farm in the rural town of
Altus, Arkansas. Highlights of the show included the girls performing
poorly at various entry level jobs around town, and numerous instances
of the wealthy girls as "fish out of water" in a rural
community.
At 23, Paris Hilton was the new Guess? Girl featured
in the ad campaign for the Fall 2004 line. Over the past few years
she has developed a modeling career and posed for such publications
as Rolling Stone and the covers of Elle, Seventeen and Maxim, as
well as numerous upscale magazines around the globe. She also actively
contributed in numerous fashion circles, often collaborating with
top designers at their shows. These designers and labels include
Tommy Hilfiger, Joey and T, Heatherette, Richard Tyler and Jeremy
Scott.
She recently wrapped production on the film “House
of Wax” with Elisha Cuthbert and is shooting the film “National
Lampoon’s Pledge This!” Her additional film credits
include roles in Gary Marshall’s “Raising Helen,”
“Wonderland” with Val Kilmer and “The Cat in the
Hat” with Mike Myers.
Additionally, Hilton guest-starred on the television series THE
O.C., “Las Vegas” and “The George Lopez Show.”
Hilton has recently been in the studio recording her first solo
album. She also completed her first book, “Confessions of
an Heiress – A Tongue-in-Chic Peak Behind the Pose,”
which beat out the former President's on the New York Times bestseller
list.
On top of her acting career Paris has also helped
to design a high-end collection of purses for Tokyo label Samantha
Thavasa. As well as charity work for Toys for Tots. However her
attempts to start a modeling company and a makeup line seem to have
been unsuccessful.
Well in December 2004 she missed the opening for
her new exclusive nightclub "Club Paris" in Orlando, Florida
on New Year's Eve 2005. However she did launch her new jewellery
line complete with pink sparkles, stars & hearts, and priced
from $15 to $95. As well as establishing her own record label, Heiress
Records.
After Celebrating her 24th Birthday with a dinner
at the Ivy in February 2005, Paris is now promoting her own fragrance,
called Paris Hilton (Release date was Valentine's Day), and helping
younger sister, Nicky Hilton, promote her clothing line "Chick".
On May 25th 2005, she became engaged to boyfriend Paris Latsis,
who she actually met at a nightclub 10 years ago.
